3 Questions to Ask Your Caterer before Your Event
Much goes into planning an event: selecting a venue, inviting guests, renting tables and chairs, and hiring a caterer to prepare delicious food. In order to make sure that your event goes smoothly, ask your caterer these three questions before your event:
1. Where Will the Food Be Heated and Served?
Long before the day of your event, you need to have the logistics of where your catering company is going to heat up and put the finishing touches on the food. If you’re planning on serving buffet style, then you can have the catering staff set up, heat the food, and serve the guests in the same place. If the event is a sit-down dinner, however, then you’ll need to speak with your caterer about where to finish the food setup and how to get the food to the tables.
2. How Many Staff Members Will Be Available?
You should ask this question in tandem with the first, because how you choose to serve the food is going to depend upon how many staff members you’re going to have on hand. If you’re low on staff, then a buffet may be the best idea. If plenty of people are available, then consider a formal sit-down dinner.
3. Do You Have Any Flatware and Linen Recommendations?
Unless you’ve hired a party planner, the decoration of the event is going to be your concern. That doesn’t mean, however, that you’re totally on your own. Your caterer may not provide linens and flatware, but a good caterer has a lot of contacts in related businesses. You can, therefore, ask your caterer for some suggestions about where you should start looking for flatware and linens to match your event’s décor.
